Please, folks... NOT DRINK AND DRIVE !
« Reply #15 on: March 13, 2007, 10:02:53 PM »
I'm with you on drunk driving, Brad, I never said that should not be punished harshly. Or that drink/driving is not a bigger problem. But does not mean one should be blind to the fact that phoning/driving has become a big problem too, as I can testify from the many close calls I've had with people who drive while ont the phone.

All those activities you mention can be dangerous too, and anyone should be careful when driving; if you think about it, your car can be a lethal weapon and you should keep distractions to a minimum.
I do remember almost running a red light a few months ago because a friend was in the car and he was talking to me. I am generally very attentive, but I am also used to driving alone, so that did show me how easy it is to lose concentration and be distracted.

Still that's not as distracting as trying to dial someone's number or even composing text messages, like I see a lot of people doing, while behind the wheel.  Distraction causes loads of accidents, & cell phones are becoming more and more responsible.
And the last thing I want to do is making excuses for drunk drives, but at least you can can kinda predict when they're gonna be on the road, so I have a feel for when to watch out for that threatwhile the cell phone problem is an anytime problem.

But to cut to the chase...just be good when you drive!

From dictionary.com:

fard      /fɑrd/
?noun
1.   facial cosmetics.
?verb (used with object)
2.   to apply cosmetics to (the face).

But it's really a verbal gag.

I live in California and I can't wait till the cell phone law goes into effect. You know, I think there are plenty more ways the state can legislate for our safety. Frankly, when fart in my car, after a middle eastern lunch, I get lost in the fruity sweetness that is my gas. Sometimes after a good fart I can end up miles down the road and not remember how I got there. Let's outlaw, talking, daydreaming, listening to music, and beautiful people too. Hotties should have to wear masks so they don't distract the people around them. Driving with distractions is NOT the same as being chemically impaired, and I am by no means defending driving under the influence. But trying to legislate distractions is absurd. People will always get distracted, laws won't change that. And believe it or not, some people can walk and chew gum at the same time. Driving is inherently dangerous. The best defense is to be your own best defense. Drive defensively, love your family, and seek pleasure and joy. Peace, James
