Loose Frets
« on: May 28, 2007, 12:49:13 PM »
I am currently restoring a $50.00 pawn shop rescue,Its a Hagstrom I Vintage 62 or 63 sometimes called the Kent model or Playschool model.Looks like something the Doodlebops would play.
A problem exist the with the fret slots being to wide to hold the new frets securily probably due to wood shrinkage.
Does anyone know of a way to correct this?
I am installing Gibson jumbos so some type of glue or filler would be ok. These will take many dressings and using flat wounds I will never have to refret again.

Cool!  I have two of these - one in pretty good shape and one that I use for parts.  It was also sold as the Futura.  I love the plastic top with the swimming pool between the pickups and the vinyl-covered back.  (By the way, if your vinyl is pulling away, as many of these do over the years, you can heat it up with a hair dryer, stretch it, and reglue using rubber cement).  Let me know if you need anything.
