Northwest gathering?
« Reply #30 on: November 07, 2007, 05:10:05 PM »
Hi Guys.

Here's the haps.

The Island Music Guild booking is solid from 2:00pm until 10:00pm, Saturday January 5th.

I've taken the liberty of breaking Saturday into two distinct events/venues.

The schedule is as follows.

Meeting, making introductions, setting up, getting settled etc. starting at 1:30pmish.

From the 'official start time of 2:00pm' until 7:00-7:30pm, it's an Alembic owners get together with lick swapping, song learning, song playing, let's have some fun jamming time.  This event is behind closed and locked doors and is *not* open to the public.

Sometime around 5:00pmish will be meal time.  So far seafood bisque is on the menu for one of the 'main course' offerings.  Please let me know if anyone has any seafood allergies, as it's quite 'heavy' with shellfish.  I would imagine we'll also have salmon in some form or another, as after all this is the Pacific Northwest don't cha know.  ;)

The second event of the day's 'official start time of 8:00pm', is an open to the public performance featuring me and any other Alembic owner(s) that has desire or inclination to join on in.  If 'someone' is so inclined to join me in performing, advance notice would be very much appreciated so I can adjust the advertising of the 'Bass Rumble'.

For example.

1st Annual Bainbridge Island Bass Rumble

Saturday January 5th, 8:00-10:00pm

Featuring Bassists

Bradley Young from Covington, WA
Kimberly Lynn from Kingston, WA
Terry from UK

etc, etc...

Free Admission, open to the public, suggested donation of $5.00

etc, etc...

Those who have no interest in performing live are of course welcome to stay for the show.

The last performance of the evening will end at 10:00pm and that will be the 'official end of the Rumble'.

I'll also be speaking with Bass Northwest again to see if they can help defray expenses and maybe lend us an amp, or two, or three.  ;)

Borrowing again from our own Bradley, Thoughts?

Regards,

Kimberly --- tearing out of the room to get ready for her open mike.

PS.  A 'show of hands' would be appreciated for meal planning, quantity of beverages (beer is allowed per the Guild as it's private), types of beverages, condiments, etc.

Thank you.

Regards,

Looks like a really, really cool opportunity to meet and have some serious fun with fellow Alembicians.  I wish I were closer!

Hi John.

Pardon me for being so bold, but I couldn't help myself from doing a travelocity search for a flight from Indianapolis to Seattle and back.  I came up with about $350 for arrival on the 5th and departure on the 6th.  As well, accomodations would not be an issue.  Just a thought, or two.  ;)

Best Regards,

That's cheap!  I just don't have $$$ to throw at it right now.    I'm committing all of my discretionary funds (gig money) toward paying off my wife's new/old motorcycle!  It's her birthday/anniversary/Christmas present!

hands and fingers showing...and I'll bring some fresh baked bread and some vegetarian dish,I'll see if I can get a keg of Thomas kemper rootbeer.

I can also bring equipment if we can work out what is needed (power amps,monitors...cables),since I am living on bainbridge it will be relatively easy.

This rules.  I'm totally down for this event.

I can bring several preamps, my 'big rig', and my combo amp as well as my Alembic so people can try out stuff - if there is interest and I'm guessing there will be.   I have a pickup with a nice canopy so rain/weather isn't an issue.

Stuff I can bring:

Alembic John Paul Jones Custom
Mesa Boogie Venture combo
Epifani UL212
Epifani UL410
Stewart World 1.6 power amp
Ampeg SVP-CL (the SVT preamp)
SWR Mini Mo'

I'd really like to be able to bring a brand spankin' new Rogue 5 string but there is no way it's going to be done in less than 2 months... especially since they haven't even started building it yet (to my knowledge).

I can bring my Bag End rig, and my new 6 string custom.  Happy to ferry people from the other side of the Narrows-- I have a Yukon XL and can take quite a few passengers + gear.

Hi John.

Well, can't fault a gal for trying.  ;)  Truly, I can understand where you're coming from, not only from me being on the 'other side', owning a Suzuki, having birthday in early January, an anniversary in December and of course Christmas time.  ;) Yeah, I've a pretty good idea of your circumstance.  :D

Maybe next time.

Best Regards,

Hi Guys.

Some activity going on here.  Sweet.

For gear I'll bring,

Epic 5
Epifani UL 500 single 12 combo
Roland 100 Bass Cube
RC-50 Looper
GR-20 Synth
PA system, mains are Roland 2-way w/12's and horns, a DOD 16 channel board, Peavey M-2600 power amp, four or five mikes and stands, sufficient cabling to hook it together.

A Sax guy
A Guitar guy for at least part of the event.
And I'm still working on a drummer.

This is looking good.

Best Regards,

Howdy Neighbor.

Fresh baked bread and a side dish sounds really great thank you.  Thomas Kemper root beer?  Sweet.

'Business stuff'

I have no monitor system (or cables to hook one up) so if you'd like to help out, that would be very nice.

We should probably think this through some.  You being on Bainbridge, you're probably familiar with the Guild hall.  I was in last week to book it and noted they've got a lot of isolation walls stashed along one wall which seemingly dramatically decreased the size of the room. Anyway, I don't think it holds 100 people any longer.  Point being, how much gear do we need to 'work it'?  Bass gear to 'play around with' for comparison purposes is very cool, but a sound re-enforcement system might not need to be very massive.  What do you think about this re: PA,  monitor system, additional amps, speakers, etc...?

If you'd like to go 'offline' my email is available through my profile.  Maybe we could get together and 'do lunch' sometime?   I could have my people get in touch with your people...  ;)

Best Regards,

Hi Briant and welcome aboard.

Sounds like you've got it covered with gear to play with.  Works just fine for me.  Personally I'd be very interesting in hooking your Epifani UL410 up as an extension to my UL 500 single 12 combo.  I suspect to say it will rock could be understating it. ;)

Feel free to contact me on or offline and did I say welcome?.

Best Regards,

Hi Bradley

Sounds as if you'll have your new six string???  Wow, that'll be great.

Your amp would also be very much appreciated to  expand the 'plug and play' part of the event.  Sweet.  Thank you.

As we get closer to the 'Rumble', it's quite possible your offer of transportation will be used.  Time will tell the tale on this one.  Needless to say I'll keep you posted.

Best Regards,

Kimberly
