i finally got my gene simmons axe yesterday after a delay of a couple of weeks
for you rockbanders etc
this is a quality instrument. best buttons i have seen so far = they are tapered so the button is lower at the edge of the fingerboard and makes pressing much easier. it has some weight to it making it feel less flimsy. prefer a toggle effects switch opposed the the slide switch that is on this model but thats a minor issue and is the placement of the whammy bar. the strum bar clicks bit its no was as loud as the flying vee above and the spider model i bought as a back up since amazon said i wouldnt have this one until mid dec. at 80$, i get free shipping, its a bit higher than  most other guitars, but its made better and looks cool. lastly, the simmons can stand on its own- the spider falls over

You can download Dead tunes for at least one of the games on the XBox platform.  Not sure if there is any Dead available for Guitar Hero, but Rock Band has it covered.

According to one site, Rock Band reportedly has or can download:

China Cat Sunflower
Casey Jones
Sugar Magnolia
Truckin
Franklin's Tower
I Need A Miracle

Alabama Getaway is in Rock Band 2.

Another report says there are 18 Dead songs available for Rock Band, but I haven't looked to verify this.

yes this is true
i have them downloaded for ps3
on rock band 2 china cat is listed as the most difficult song in the entire collection of tunes on this version
all these add on instruments can play either rb or gh
so buy the game and buy separate guitars
one thing on the axe- the buttons start on the second fret - not the first like other guitars
but the axe is no wear as loud on the clicker/strummer as either of the 2 above
i havent seen anything about 18 songs

and as i have posted in another thread, the beatles will be coming out with their own tunes to play next year

One thing for sure - that plastic guitar probably sounds better than Genes real bass!

No offence Gene, Kiss were massive and sold gazzilions of records, but you did for bass playing what Britney Spears did for parenthood!

Unfair statement there!  He may not play blistering lines like Geddy Lee, but he's playing the right stuff for his band's style.  There should be no higher compliment for a bass player than that.

Thanks George - nice to be here as always

Bsee - its simply a matter of opinion.... and that is my opinion. You are welcome to judge it as unfair but my judgement is contrary to yours!

Did Gene play the bass on Sure Know Something and I Was Made for Loving You? Those were great grooves!
