I've been using a comfort srap. It's the one recomeded by the BassNW staff. I love mine. Check em out. Won't last 30 years, but they feel great.

I am a big fan of Mosby Straps. I have two that Jeff made me and they are great. The leather is much thicker than Moody or others so it is not broken in from day one but it forms nicely with use. It is top grade 4 leather and comes with a suede back and thick lambs wool pad for the shoulder and customized for Schaller or Dunlop strap locks if needed.  Jeff is a very nice guy and though most of his designs on the website are country style, he will make whatever you want.  I have a plain black and a plain burgundy with my initials. The strap has a different adjustment method rather than the traditional loop through the slots, very ingenious... Definately worth a look, it is especially great for heavy basses...

Everytime I see this thread I think of Huey Lewis and the News.

I want a new strap,
 one that doesn't slip,
..one that's good for my back,
I want a new strap,
...that keeps my shoulder from aching...

...well I think you get the idea

FWIW:  I was given a comfort strap by the fine kids at BassNW when I bought my JPJ from them.  I dug it until I played a gig with it.  I'll preface this with I move around a lot when I play.  It was too bouncy.  The bass was hopping all over the place whenever I'd run to the other side of the stage or bounce around.  Jumping off things was out of the question.

I went back to using a standard 2 nylon strap and couldn't be happier.  In fact I even went so far as to put one of these on my Essence.

Just been watching the E street band on the Glastonbury coverage and Nils was using an Earthwoode strap. Mind you, he only had to support the weight of a strat and that's what? 1/2 a pound or something?  ;-)
