Whether you like him, dislike him or no opinion at least he is still out there playing.

I thought Springteen's show at the Super Bowl halftime was pretty good. 25 year anniversary today for this album...another thing that makes me feel kinda old.

Yeah, that's enough to make you feel super-annuated.

Like many people, I like Bruce; unlike many people, I think the two albums he did prior to Born In The USA are his best.

In our neck of the woods there is a little annual musicale called Bonnaroo going on this weekend. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be playing Saturday night. I have not attended a Bonnaroo; but perhaps some year I will.

I get that some people like Bruce Springsteen. I also get that some people absolutely love him. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

That said: Bruce Springsteen brings nothing to the table and has produced nothing worth listening to (or remembering) in his entire career. He's just a bar room singer/guitar owner that managed to ride the working class hero image all the way to the bank.

Yeah he's still out there doing it. I wish he'd stop.

A college friend who'd gone to high school with Springsteen (& dated his sister) hipped me to Bruce just before Born To Run came out. I was 18 years old, and he was speaking directly to me. There is stuff I was into then that I still listen to - NRPS, Commander Cody, Pure Prairie League, Phil Ochs, Grateful Dead, etc. Bruce, not so much. I haven't been 18 for a long time now. I did see Clarence Clemens sit in with the Dead on a New Year's broadcast some years later, and was amazed to discover that he can play the saxophone.

One wonders why? You seem to be nursing alot of hatred towards someone who is out there doing what most of wish we could. Jealousy perhaps? Ok, I 'Get' that you don't like his music but I don't believe you can justify saying he has produced nothing worth listening to in his entire career. OK, you don't like his style, tell us what you do like so we can share our opinions on your taste.

I, personally, don't care for the majority of Bruce's music but I can't deny the songwriting talent there.... If I don't like what I see on my TV (or hear on my radio) I just change the channel!

A lifelong Jersey boy who played a number of his tunes and does not care for him. I will not deny his success but I'm not a fan. Oh Sandy, the waitress down at the diner lost her desire for me. Walked past him as I was loading in for a gig at the Rainbow room and he was leaving from taping Letterman. I was not inclined to say hello at all. But I will be spending eternity in his hometown of Freehold NJ in my family plot. Perhaps DiMeola will jam with the Isley Bros and Kool and the gang instead of Bruce as I wait for the White Throne Judgement.

My 2 cents -
Like his music or not - you got to love the energy he puts in to it. He obviously has a passion for performing.

I always enjoy watching/listening to someone who is performing from the heart.

I'm glad he did this song; I think it helped make a difference in our world. And for that reason I am thankful that he had not stopped doing what he does. When the song first came out, I didn't really notice it; but after I saw the movie, the song for me took on all the emotional content of the film. Now, when I see the name Bruce Springsteen, this song and that movie come to mind. If for no other reason that this contribution to our world, I am thankful that Bruce Springsteen never stopped.

i was watching Bruce and the E street band on tonight's coverage of the Glastonbury festival and Bruce had the audience eating out of his hand - Now remember, most of this audience are in their mid 20's and have come to see the likes of Lily Allen, the ting tings and Blur. Says sommething about his performing charisma. Still can't wait for Mid July.
