I thought of this old thread after seeing KISS last night. A friend of mine and I decided we would spend $20 on lower level tickets - $140 face value?!?!?
We got em' no problem.

Unless I have gone batty (pun intended,) Gene and Paul do not play their instruments. I saw them in 98 or so and clearly Paul's guitar was off for parts as he danced around, which is fine because most songs really only have one guitar part. But they made mistakes then and Gene was apparently playing the bass. Not so this time. During solos the rhythm guitar would continue and Paul was definitly not playing the part. Also, Gene could clearly be seen waving his hands around during bass parts; although not as blatantly as Paul. It seemed they had the bass mixed way up into the mids to help cover. oh well.
The stage show was over the top. But faking playing is just so lame.

Sad isn't it?
I remember that Gene Simmons said something along the lines that he understood the spice girls more than nirvana...that should say all you need to know...as much as I loved KISS as a teen, I'm much better now...Tony
