+1 for the ipad.   unless i am doing something like photo editing, word processing, etc...the ipad is my main electronic device..

It  certainly is very expensive.  I have the 64 gig model.  I thought that I would be filling it up with alot of apps, documents, music, whatever, but so far ive only used about 8 gigs.  If had a do over Id get the 16 gig version.

Supposedly there are screen protectors that are pretty good at cutting down on the glare...

My favorite reader doesn't overheat, reads fine in sunlight, is guaranteed to work 150 years from now, and has indefinite battery life.  It's called a book

Thanks, Wolf.  Didn't get much in the way of work from my 1st Master's, so here I am pursuing another.  Who was it that said the definition of insanity is to do the same thing & expect different results?

Wolf: Ah yes, Digidesign! I've pretty much left Pro Tools so I forgot about their unwillingness to play well with others. I wouldn't expect a great iPad app for Pro Tools unless Avid releases it themselves. Since that would make sense, but cut into sales of their own control surface, I wouldn't expect it to happen any time soon.

Peter, I think that job at Santa Cruz managing the GD archive has been taken. :-) I'm a big fan of never ceasing to be a student! Good luck in your studies!

Thread resurrection.  I thought some here would appreciate the woodworking these folks have done with their iPad cases.

I had a similar case made for my iPhone ( I think it was walnut), and it didn't last very long. I dropped it from maybe two feet and it completely shattered. Looked cool, though. Anyway, I recently got an iPad and I'm standing by my point that it is really fun and cool, but won't replace your computer. If I had to type on this thing all the time ( like I am now ), I'd go crazy.
