Viva Las Vegas!
« on: August 17, 2010, 04:36:34 PM »
Just returned from a week in Vegas with the wife and 15 year old son.  A great time.  Saw Penn & Teller - very funny.  Got together with Mark and Tom from the club for a mini gathering.  Bought an old Fillmore poster at the Pawn Shop from Pawn Stars.  But the most impressive thing by far was the Cirque du Soleil production of the Beatles Love.  Truly an amazing spectacle and the music ain't bad either!  lol  If any of you find yourself near Vegas, try and see Love, it's well worth it.  One thing I didn't see was Ed Roman's.  He has apparently closed his Las Vegas store and now has a showroom outside of town.  If you want to get in, you have to give Ed $100.  If you buy a guitar within 30 days, the $100 goes towards the guitar.  Cheap guitars don't count.  If you don't buy a guitar, Ed keeps your money!  I went and checked out Cowtown Guitars instead.

Bill,

It sounds like you had a blast.  Did you meet Chumly or Big Haas?

When one looks up the word tool in the dictionary, Ed Roman's picture is there alongside.

Sounds like you had a fun trip! I was in Reno last week, the most interesting place I went was Bizarre Guitars, right next to Bizarre Guns!!!

It's Ed roman. Not at all surprised. Didn't know he closed his store, though. I was supposed to go to Vegas for my birthday a few weeks ago, but had some gigs come up. I'll make it at some point.

Makes sense to me . . . if I remember right, the brothels in NV are only legal outside the Vegas city limits.

Joey:  ROTFLMAO!

John:  No Chumlee or Corey, but the Old Man came out for photo ops.  We did talk to Corey's younger brother.  He was in California when they did the filming, so he's not in the show.

Ed Roman has had his share of business ups and downs. He claims he grew tired of the tire kickers that would come in his store.  Me thinks he had a cash shortage, and cut back operations. He has been trying to sell some of his brand lines and now tries to operate his on-line store.  I think that $100 fee may be negotiable, if you can convince him you are sincere.  One thing is he likes to haggle.  He feels it shows someone is serious about potentially making a purchase.  However, he no longer sells new Alembics!  Keep that in mind.  I also think he is usually overpriced.  but I'm in the NY region where supply is plentiful.
