Author Topic: Length of a Rogue bass? (Read 221 times)

I've been thinking about ordering a nice gig bag for my Rogue so I don't have to lug around the hard shell case that it comes with to rehearsals. Anyone with a Rogue want to let me know how long the bass is from end to end?

Let it be known that this would be for rehearsals only. Gigs would be hardshell case only with me watching like a hawk at all times.

I never measured my Rogue, but it's about as long as a Fender and fits easily into any standard gig bag for Bass.
Considering what a Rogue costs though, I'd recommend transporting it in a hardshell case.

Better than the lame little gig bags that provide next to no protection at all. As I mentioned initially I would only use it for rehearsals and whatnot. I have a difficult time getting my hardshell case in my car and I really like to drive it whenever possible - both of my regular rehearsal spaces have amps setup in them so all I need to bring is a bass.

Brian, there have been a number of threads on this topic before, so if you run a search of the site, I'm sure you'll find a number of good suggestions. I don't know anything about gig bags myself, other than the fact that they aren't hard shell cases.

Unfortunately, there can't be a standard since there is no single scale length. If you need to know within 2-3 inches, you can probably get a good answer from the forums. Other than that, you would have to specify your scale length and headstock shape to get an accurate answer.

I use incase for my 34 excels. Works well for gigs and rehearsals.

I know that in comparison with my Exploiter case the case for my Rogue is a piece of cake to deal with....

I realized that I was a dumbass when I originally posted this by leaving out important information... like scale length and headstock style. Oops. Hi, I'm a dumbass and my name is Brian. :-)

It's a 35 scale with an Orion style headstock. I'm guessing it will be pretty close in overall length and size to my Modulus Q4 (which is also 35 scale).

Good to see that Incase is making those gig bags again! I believe I may order one up. :-)

IME, scale length is not the determining factor, overall length is. My Mark King / Series II 5 string is a 34" scale and measures over 52" tip-to-tip. My Roscoe LG-3005 is a 35" scale and is shorter in overall length than my Fender Jazz Basses. Here's what happens when you put the MK/S2 in a standard sized gig bag....

So I had a custom bag built. These bags are now available at the Alembic Store

I also purchased a Ritter double bag that can fit any two of my basses, except that if I put my MK/S2 in it, the only other bass that will fit is the Roscoe. For what you are talking about, either bag would work well. They are both very well padded and have sufficient storage for peripherals. Peace, James (Message edited by malthumb on January 26, 2008)

James, scale length alone isn't a determining factor, but you need the body style, scale length, and headstock shape to get close for the overall length of an Alembic bass. Certainly it would be just as simple, if not easier, to specify the overall length.

Thinking more on it, a Rogue might be tough to fit into a gig bag with the extended upper horn. Even worse, once it's in the bag, if the fit isn't great there could be pressure on that upper horn. I guess you'd need to pay attention to the body length of these as well when you're looking for a bag.

I ordered an InCase slim bag. If my Rogue doesn't fit in it I have other basses that most certainly will so win all around! I really hope the Rogue fits though... it would be so wonderfully convenient and happy if it did.
