Good news Flax... I found my sense of humor.  It was under a pile of worthless stock certificates.

I appreciate Jeff's desire to share a humorous cartoon with us, and indeed a smile or laugh in the middle of the day can be a unexpected but welcome respite.

However, as moderator, I again welcome this opportunity to remind everyone that in the midst of this political campaign here in the US, a campaign that is for many quite stressful and emotional, not everyone here will find this type of cartoon humorous.  Some on both sides of the campaign may take it as an opportunity to respond with their thoughts on the candidates.

Many of our members welcome the refuge that our club offers from the extreme polarizing atmosphere that the current political contest represents.

On other blogs I have increasingly been reading stories of lifelong friendships that have suffered because of this election.

On the other hand I certainly understand anyone's desire to share with their friends here in our club, whether it's a humorous cartoon or the qualifications of your candidate.

In my view, our members here are best served, we are best served, by keeping our club a refuge; a place to come and hang out, to relax, to enjoy, to learn.  There are countless other venues on the net to explore and participate in the wonderful world of high stakes, high drama politics.

I may once again be over-reacting in my desire to head off heated political discourse before it actually happens.  And I do understand that others can reasonably disagree with my views on this.  But it seems to me that over the years our club, our community, has endeavored to treat all members with respect; and I'm just trying to assist, in my role as moderator, in that endeavor that we as a community share.

I certainly agree with the need to avoid political heat here.  This is not only a respectful environment, but almost always, a very pleasant one.  But in this case, you are talking about two of my very favorite people...
