I would ask why, but that would lead this thread further in an inappropriate direction.

Congratulations from Germany. I guess Obama would have won in Europe too. I never saw election parties for a US president in germany before. I hope he will be able to fulfill all the huge expectations.

If for no other reason (of which there are many),
America has passed a milestone on the path away from her racist history. This truly a cause for celebration!

I wanted to mention- although i voted democratic
i thought mccains concession speech was a totally class act by a great american.
the only person who could withstand that kind of torture is bill panzer trying to decide if he should buy another guitar or three...lol

Regardless of political persuasion I think all Americans can be proud of the election. America is such a paradox.

Well done guys and gals!!

I truly wish Obama well in undertaking the hardest of jobs.

Being a realist, and political cynic (lets face it they all lie, dont they?)its hard to be swept along by the furore but I genuiniely see Obama as the best option for the US.

I feel it is more of a massive victory over the totally unacceptable rascist, bigoted attitudes that must be eradicated than any political new dawn or direction - but that is good enough for me and a worthwhile victory in itself at this time in history!

John.

I can only say it is great to see a younger person in office, I know with age comes wisdom but sometimes a bit of naivity can produce great ideas.
Well done to all you Obama supporters

I guess the global economic slump has had a bit of a boost in the last 24 hours

Well, I hate to get sucked into a politcal thread on this forum of all places, but all I can say is it seems that alot of people have high, and (possibly unrealistic) expectations of what Obama can achieve in the next four years.  I hope there is not too much disapointment...

I wish the guy luck, he will need it. He's inheriting many problems.

You guys couldn't leave it alone, eh?

I guess it's now official...I'm living in a country with a preponderance of Socialists.  Alembic basses for everyone, eh?  After all, it's spread the wealth time right?

To paraphrase Zell Miller...I didn't leave my country, my country left me.

And as Abraham Lincoln once remarked regarding a supporter seeking government patronage, too many pigs for the tits.

I've got news for all you jubilant folks - if the messiah fails to pick up the tab on your new Series IIs, I can't help ya...my taxes are about to be doubled...sigh...
