Well, Dave didn't want that post to be mentioned so I didn't want to be specific; but I think I was thinking about a different post than he was...

Hi Dave,
I don't visit many forums (two in fact) but I hear enough about others to know that the Alembic forum is one of the friendliest and well managed around. The tone of helpfulness, the wealth of knowledge about something we all seem to love unendingly and the breadth of the community all make for (in my experience) a really great facility. In no small measure that is largely attributable to you and Alembic. so thanks to you all
Jake

Royce, I just thought it was funny that your post described most of us at one point or another!  ;)

What kind of pie?  Because if it's not pumpkin then it's just a silly myth of a pie.

Dave, I don't know of many who would want to take this on. Keep up the good work.

Dave you do an awesome job! I don't post often but read the posts several times a week. You are always right on and generous with your posts. Thanks for all you do for our special community (anything to do with a short bus? LOL)Michael

Dave--

I would like to add my thanks and affirmation for the job you do.  I really appreciate your even-handed and even-tempered dealings with some very sensitive and/or challenging situations which sometimes arise on this board, and judging from the other posts on this topic, it is apparent that I'm not the only one.  Thank you for the job you do, and the way you do it.

The paragraph in your post which discusses the fact that this board is a private forum is right on the mark.  It is also something that--in my opinion, anyway--all posters should read, read again, and take to heart before posting anything.

Finally, I'd like to thank all my fellow Alembic club members for being as warm, welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, and fun to hang with as any group I've ever encountered.  I am an infrequent poster, but a very frequent reader, and I truly appreciate this forum.  Also, thanks to the Wickershams for creating it--and allowing it to continue--in the first place!

Dave:  Fortunately, I don't think I saw the post that you were referring to.  You and a lot of others do a lot to keep this environment friendly and open.  Not all chatboards enjoy such great results.  The moderator's role is too frequently difficult and, at times, thankless.  I appreciate your patience and integrity in your efforts.  As I mentioned, it takes a lot of folks to make and keep a good environment, so here's a thank you to everyone else.  I hope you can forgive my (hopefully infrequent) lapses in citizenship and consideration.

This forum is a pleasure, a comfort and someplace I enjoy visiting - especially after a hiatus.  The comments already posted resonated for me.  Thanks again, Dave.

Peace and Love, in all postings.

I am very grateful for the tone and culture of this forum. Still, and this is not a reference to what transpires here, I think there is far too much offense being taken in our society today. Lighten up people.  It's not even safe to mock retarded people anymore, you can't even call them retarded!

Wait, there I go again, writing out my interior thoughts, I am sooo sorry. JBY

maybe there should be a drug screening to join this forum?

JBY - now that wouldn't have anything to do with political leaders whose raison d'etre is fear of others would it?

I thought we weren't supposed to discuss politics. :-)

I think I need to start a post about piccolo tuning on  a 34 scale, I've been considering trying this out..

Yes, quite right. Both GHS and D'Addario have 34 piccolo string sets - I prefer the sound of the D'Addarios - a little smoother.

Moder Dave,
Thanks for who you are and what you do here.  You help make this such a great forum.  I can't imagine there being a better moderator anywhere in cyberville.

I've used DR piccolo strings as well, on a 35 bass. I think the strings were very nice, but it wasn't the right instrument to make into a piccolo.

One thing about this I'll say clearly...

When you say nice things to people, you're closer to holding a stronger faith in humanity and goodness of the soul.

In other words Dave, I have much love for your great works in keeping the balance, and keeping thing clean.
