How's the weather?

Aside from getting called in to plow anywheres between midnight and 4am, it really isn't that bad around here. When I lived in upstate NY this was par for the course.

We had a massive ice storm tues night into weds night in eastern PA.  I ended up having to take a personal day as the roads were pretty treacherous until noon or so when everything started to melt.

The ironic thing is that I guess age has caught up with me, and I am only 43!  Even as recently as 3-4 years ago I loved this kind of weather, and would schedule a winter camping trip once a year, but anymore I really don't care for it.  I am seriously thinking of making a move for a warmer climate, such as California.

Greg, I made the move from New England (MA/NH) to Georgia last year. While NH was settling in to another snowstorm this week, here we got a Winter Thunderstorm Warning. Oh, the suffering I must endure here as it is in the 60s and wet. How can I go on?

I find my enthusiasm for Winter weather waning woefully.  We want warmer weather.

I hope our Aussie friends are safe.

Same with me, Greg; it doesn't seem like it was that long ago that my biggest complaint about this storm would have been that I wasn't out camping in it.  Now, I was quite content to share central heat with wife, dog, good book, & good beer.

John,

That picture is melting my brain.  Love it!!

Low 60's here in Southern California... nothing really to complain about, other than our State budget.  I'd complain about the cost of living, but I don't have to buy snowblowers, snow tires, winter clothing, etc.  I went to work today in cargo shorts and a sweatshirt.

The temp in NW Colorado is finally breaking a little bit.  It's above zero for the first time in a while.  The lowest this week was -36.  It stayed below zero for a few days.
Now that the temp is creeping up it's starting to snow.  It's always something, I guess.
But, with all the weather disasters around the US and the world, I have nothing to whine about.

P.S.  A little tip about windshield washer fluid.  We've been testing it at work. I am a warehouse manager for the Colorado Dept. of Transportation.  This year we started using Rain-X 2in1 washer fluid.  The reports from our snowplow drivers have been really good.  I have a bag of it outside on my back deck.  When it was -36 the stuff was starting to get a little thick but wasn't freezing at all.  I get it from a truck parts supply house, but I think WalMart carries it.
There is also a washer fluid additive sold by NAPA that will take regular -20 washer fluid down to about -40 or -45.

Rub it in Toby.

I am giving some thought to making the move to california, to the point where I am doing some research on the job market out there for my field.

Everything here in eastern PA is just a big icy mess.  The path from my front door to my driveway is all ice, my driveway is all ice, and this morning while taking the dog for a walk I fell twice.

I dont really have any ties here anymore, and really the only thing that makes me think twice about leaving is that I have emotional ties to the house Im in.  I grew up in it, and it sits on a nice parcel of 5 acres that backs up to a couple of thousand acres of preserved woodland, but all this ice and snow, coupled with east coast summers that are simply oppressive in terms of heat and humidity really make me question staying here.
