News says he died Friday in New York after a tour of Europe.

Shit..that is sad news...another musician that has passed away in 2011.
The Bottle was one of my favourite funk tracks with that burbling bass in the background

Paul; thanks for posting that quote, that's quite nice. I think that Gil Scott Heron was an influence not only musically but culturally for a lot of us; and for that I am grateful.
