Wow indeed! I love the look of the clean front but I doubt if I could live without the knobs - I use mine all the time. Superb top wood all the same.

I must admit the continuity of the wood without the controls looks really good.
I guess if you have to reduce volume then it would be a pedal or very soft picking/fingerstyle(highly unlikely if your are a JE fan though!!!)
I know one guy who did the same on his P bass, wired the pu direct to the socket and put a new scratchplate on with no controls.

Gorgeous instrument, congrats! One question, though: How do you turn the LEDs on & off? It seems to me this is the one control you really do need easy access to on a regular basis.

Accessible through holes in the control cavity cover by the looks of things. Looks very well thought out anyway.

Thank you everyone for the kind words.

I am so happy that such artistic boutiques like Alembic are still around in today?s day and age.

You really need to hear this thing thru a stack of Ampegs to appreciate it I say.

For the record the LED switch is a push button on the back control panel. I use the tip of the ?? male jack on my cordless pack to push it in and out.

Update

I played out the DW last night. I used my Ampeg rigs (no need to go thru the PA).

I just simply love this bass.

Here is my in-depth report on how it sounded.

Boom-Ka-Clank.

That sums it up. : )

I played a small body Alembic for the first set. It sounded so refined and smooth. I then played the DW for the rest of the night. It is just such a raw beast. It is hard to believe that they are made by the same people.
