Peter, Here are the closeups of my grandparents' acoustics. I think they are both Silvertone's my grandfather bought through the Sears catalog. The smaller one has a Silvertone label inside, but the label has fallen off the larger one. They both still have the last set of strings my grandfather put on them, & he passed away in 1998, so they are pretty old! I would love to give them a thorough cleaning & oil the necks & put new strings on, but I like having them preserved the way they were the last time my grandparents played them. You can still see the pick stuck under the truss rod cover where my grandfather put it the last time he played the guitar! The action on the large one is incredible! It plays like a Strat!

Jazzyvee, you are a man after my own heart! My SCSD is by far my favorite & although it is my only Alembic, like you, even if I had more it would still be my favorite. My 1st Alembic was an early 80's Series 1 which I sold, but the whole time I had it, I really wanted the small body Stanley, so my SCSD will always be my favorite bass. As for which basses I bring to the gigs, I just bring the SCSD & my Jazz bass. I only use the Jazz for a couple of drop D tuned songs so I don't have to retune my Alembic. I thought about getting a 5 string, but I can't play them! I'm a traditionalist & 4 strings is plenty for me! I admire 5 string players, but I don't see myself ever being one.

Decided to update my profile pic, and made a small collage as well, (of my past and current Alembics)
Looking to take a nice family pic of all my gear next time its sunny out.

By the way, whats the best way to upload a large image to the board? I brought this one down all the way to 72 dpi, less than 500 pixels width, and the file was still too large to upload. How can I make the dimensions large enough for a decent image size while keeping the files under 150k? Anything less than 72 resolution will look crumby on screen correct?

I can usually get images up to 800 pixels wide at 72 dpi (all you need to display on a monitor), just reduce the jpg quality some. I usually use 8, which is still very high. If you drop it to 7 you should be good to go.

Sam I love the Rogue and it's still my goto bass for gigs.I picked up a Stanley Sig off another club member but it's too nice for bar gigs.Also after playing Fenders for years the Rogue feels right for me.

I tried out one of the Victor Bailey (fretted) basses a couple of years ago at a shop in Brighton when I was down that way and I was really impressed with everything about it. I got a better sound out of it than a standard Jazz bass or a Marcus Miller Jazz bass. If i decide to add a fender bass to my collection in the future I'd certainly give that model another airing.
