Has anyone got any recommendations of good strings for a 32in medium scale.I use stadium elites 30-50-70-90 at the moment on my longscale and want to keep the same gauge and could carry on using these but then the silks won't go round all the machine heads,and they dont make a medium scale set.I'am quite happy to try other brands but not change the gauge.Any Ideas?

I've been curious about putting lighter gauge strings on my sc Deluxe but worry about the sound being light in the meaty department and also being a little loose. Do you get a good solid sound with light gauge strings?

Jazzyvee,i don't have a SC model so i can't really say what they would be like on the short scale,i know they will be fine on my medium scale but on my MK long i can get what ever i like from a deep dub bass to a bell like slap tone.I've always found the sig electronics to be more than capable of coping with most things(well for me anyway)

What kind of bass is the medium scale? If it's an Alembic, then I find that the distance from the tailpiece to the bridge is long enough that regular long-scales will work, but of course it could depend on the brand too.

Hey Jazzyvee,

I string my SC deluxe with 30-90. I like the lower tension these give me, because it enables me to pull off some nice triplet pulls and thumps that are tricky with higher tension strings. And I really don't notice any lack of bottom end as a result of using this string gauge on my Alembic, although I do on other basses, such as my Stingray. I guess Alembic's electronics and wood choices more than compensate for any loss of bottom end.

Jazzy,

I string my SC Sig Deluxe with Rotosound Funkmasters...which are some of the lightest gauge strings they make. I'm really happy with the sound and the playablility. There's not an appreciable loss of mass or heaviness in the sound (and I think they're a lot more nimble than heavier gauge sets).

The only thing I have to be careful with is digging in too hard on the bottom five frets of the E string. Even with a good setup, that tends to make it buzz a bit. (Although, with proper SansAmp DI tweaking, that buzz can be used to advantage as extra grunt in some cases.)

Cheers for the help guys,i'm going to take hieronymous's advice as the bass will be an Alembic so i'm going to stick with my 30-90s stadium elites as i've used them for as long as can remember and i do love 'em.
