Believe it or not, I used to play this place back in my Nashville days... I can hardly believe it's still there. You can't believe how many times I thought of jumping out the window into Broadway, but hey, when you're a hungry musician, when the tip jar calls, you learn to listen... used to be $5 a shot if you could cover Crazy. (the Patsy Cline one) I once scored a $20 doing Roger Miller's King of the Road in there. Or was it Tootsie's Orchid Lounge two doors up?

Greg, see, Metro Nashville outlawed flash pots in those tight joints down on Broadway, and you know, guys will do a lot for tips and you just got to get over somehow . . . . . but hey, when Raylene and Bubba Earl are in town from Arkansas, had a more than a few PBR's and they're 'makin' it rain' with those 1-dollar bills from that big Bingo pot Raylene won down at the Catholic Church, well . . . . anything can happen in MUSIC CITY, USA.

I had a different take on it, based on the unbelievable amount of free publicity that video has garnered. It's been on the news worldwide and it's been forwarded and retweeted countless times.

From here on out, for a finale we're throwing the drummer out the window.

I've GOT to get back down there for a visit... haven't set foot in th' 'Ville since late-Autumn of 2009.

I'm recording with some (20-something) youngsters right now that have an original alt. country thing that would be fairly marketable if it weren't already so saturated with that kind of music. They're all top-notch players, just green. They definitely need to experience some of those long, narrow rooms of sadness and rejection. I feel it's my duty somehow... as if the main purpose of my life is to serve as a warning to others.

Yessir, we may need to schedule a road trip for me and the Alembic sometime this year. =)
