This was the configuration of Lonesome River Band that more-or-less defined mainstream bluegrass music in the 90's. It was not the original LRB, actually about the third iteration of the band, but this was the magic chemistry.

The song here, was written by Harry C. (Junior) Sisk. Junior sang Ronnie Bowman's final eulogy "Angel Band" last week at his memorial service. He and Ronnie were long-time friends and writing partners.

Lonesome River Band continues to this day, still based in Southwest Virginia, headed by Sammy Shelor on banjo here.

TTB has been working Sly tunes into their sets, and here they are on Howard Stern.  As Derek points out, it's fun as they have all the pieces to do it, and remarkably Sly's charts still resonate and work today.

TTB always pleases.

Came across this, Roy Ayers from SoulTrain.  Video is fuzzy, pretty sure William Henry is slinging a Series I.

TTB always pleases.

Came across this, Roy Ayers from SoulTrain.  Video is fuzzy, pretty sure William Genry is slinging a Series I.

I'll support you on that. It sounds like it. The visual is another story. The guitarist is playing a Travis Bean or a Kramer.

That was great!  And nice video and audio production as well.

Yeah, that's a Bean; at about 2:43 there's a clear shot of the "T" cutout on the headstock.

Thank you so much for that, Joey!  That was really good!

It wasn't clear enough for me to say "Yeah, that's it" or anything, but about 3:20 it kinda looks like a Fender headstock.  Sorta.  I think.......

[edit to say, about 5:40, there's a much clearer (which is not, of course, to say clear) shot as he introduces the bassist, and i withdraw my previous observation; looks a whole like an Alembic - or as much as that video can let it.

There's a good look at the headstock at 3:07 in this slightly clearer video.

Definitely an Omega-cut Series bass. Good one.

That originally came across my Instagram feed, my Alembic assumption was based on tone.  😀

This popped up on Instagram today (I got the algorithm working FOR me) 😀
