Alembic needs a Virtual Show Room

It would be cool to create a guitar virtually, and then use a swipe card for the real thing.

That works for Status, who have a relatively limited range of custom options (at least compared to Alembic).

It might be nice to have an interactive gallery where you would select a model and hopefully find a couple of pictures with different wood options.

The question is if Alembic is turning out enough non-custom instruments to fill such a gallery. The FTC threads suggest that they are taking pictures of finished intruments, so that would be a start.

The Alembic guitar silhouette of fixed, and known standard classes (shapes options) could be upgraded to a full 3D rendering kiosk.

Thus, allowing the customer a clear perspective from their remote PC.

Once the shape is accepted, the wood options would be available... eventually the customer would drill down to the hardware options and so forth... The user see's the instrument as it is being designed before their eyes... and could cross reference historical references of actual guitars built of the same shape type.

Ultimately customers can save their pictures to their local file systems.

As for extreme customs, (beyond the shapes of the system and history) then traditional customer care would be enforced.

A system like this alone would be a marketing marvel if integrated well and it interacted with the rich history and culture of talented makers, and musicians like you-all.

Just a thought of many...

Martin has a Build your Custom feature as well - though again, with limited options & no swipe.  It is fun, though.

Mark King sure does get around... They sell basses in his name over there...that's cool.

Although I did-not see a virtual show room at Status, maybe a link, would help...

Thanks.

On the Status site, click to go to the On-line Shop, and select SmartBass - and hope it is up again (THE SMARTBASS PAGES ARE BEING UP-DATED).

For the value of the product, I think it would be very fitting for Alembic.

I'm impressed, Olie - even going full-on nuts, I only hit about $27K (OK, I didn't add electronics or a carbon-fiber case...)
