I'm selling my '77 Alembic but I don't really have a clue as to it's worth. I bought the guitar new and gigged with it for several years. There are some road dings on it, but nothing outrageous. I had the nut changed as the brass one kept making my strings hang up (no, I don't have the original nut). I also changed the strap buttons for a quick release type. I have the original case, power supply (working) and two 5 pin cords (the original cord was so long I cut it half and made two out of it) I plan on listing it on Ebay and any suggestions as to what it's worth would be greatly appreciated. WOW that's sweet looking. What woods are it made out of? Looks like walnut on the front. Any pics of the back? Is it neck heavy?

Looks like it has some very cool and unusual accent laminations where the neck meets the body.

Nice guitar. Bill and several others who track guitar prices on eBay will likely be along shortly to help you out with market prices for Series guitars.

70's Series 1 guitars generally price around 3500 on average. I would say yours is probably worth somewhere around the same ballpark range, (anywhere from 2750-4000)

Some collectors may care about the missing brass nut, but others may not mind at all. The condition is pretty good, although there are some dings and the start of some checking, it doesn't appear to have any significant breaks that would affect the value. Although its certainly not mint.

Another factor that makes your guitar unique, is all those laminates around the neck. Most I've seen from that era just have the 5 piece neck attached to the wings.

Cool guitar! Very interesting Omega, more like a U shape. These don't come up very often on eBay, and a couple that have appeared lately have been listed for crazy money, $6-7K, and not drawing any bids. Assuming the electronics all work with no problems, a realistic price to expect is in the $2500-$3500 range, perhaps if there's a bidding war up to $4K. Good luck with the sale. The more high quality pics in the listing the better.

Thanks for the comments and help guys... I'll probably have it listed later this week and I'll let you know how it goes. Hate to sell it but you know how times are right now. The neck wasn't really heavy at all but the full two octave range would mess with me when I would play another guitar... when playing the Alembic a lot, I would strap on my Telecaster it would feel like a toy in comparison.
