It's a 20th Anniversary model.  It appears to have the omega tips shaved off.  USE A GUITAR/BASS STAND!!!  lol

I was thinking the same thing as it looks odd with the flat bits at the edge of the bass.
Jazzyvee but it does look delicious.

Those flat edges looked like they were cleanly removed and maybe even finished over.  If you wanted them back, they looked very repairable.  Maybe we'll see who the new owner is in the coming days.

I had one of them once.  I was a fool to part with it.  I would have been tempted to pull the trigger myself if the tips were there.

The one I had was medium scale.  Were they all medium?

Maybe I've had too much eggnog, but looking at this tipless beast got me wondering...

Could you take a previously omega-cut bass and make it into a std. point bass? On another thread the question was posed regarding making a std. point into an omega-cut, well how about the reverse? With Alembic's incredible inlay skills they could bandsaw out the omega to make nice flat  edge then cut a chunk of wood to fill the hole. Heck, you could order several different plugs to change the look of the bass...

Nah, nevermind, back to the nog, Merry Christmas everybody!

I don't think it would work. It's not just a matter of replacing the part of the neck that was cut out. Part of the body wood gets carved into also with the omega. I suppose you could glue a piece in but you'd probably be able to see it.

Hey Bill, there's always the inevitable ca ching! of the cash box, isn't there. But if there's one group of folks I wouldn't deny making a living, it's the folks at Alembic. We all feel like that, or we wouldn't be here! Cheers everybody!

David your point is well taken, but I think to make this screwball idea work, you'd have to use different wood types. Using this quilted maple bass as an example, I'd imagine a plug consisting of a purpleheart veneer wrapped around a flamed walnut core. So, a primarily light faced intrument would have a dark faced omega-point, and visa-versa.

Alright, so beyond the eggnog, I've had a couple of Foster's Special Bitters. I'm not bringing bikes into this because I've only got a Raleigh!

Happy Holidays Alembicians!

I have no problem with Alembic charging for such a mod.  I only meant to point out that it would be a fairly extensive and unique undertaking as well as expensive.

Understood. The Further's coming along nicely, it looks like a beaut!
