Looks like this will be a long bid period with a $2.25 current bid.  The bass is a beaut!

The electronics, back body laminate, Purpleheart neck lams, Purpleheart body lams; this is a very nice Exploiter.  The selling price will depend on how many people are in the market right now for a very nice Exploiter.  My wild guess is $2,500 - 3,500.  I didn't see mention of a case, which for this bass is significant; so interested bidders should ask.

I saw this one when it first appeared.  Should be at least that, Dave.  Exploiter/Spoilers have been going for $2500.  We'll see, but I think $3500 is a pretty good deal for that one.  The wood is great, it's 15-20 years newer than most Exploiters out there and there's purpleheart in the neck.  The thing has to really thunder.  I wondered if it was a 32 or 34?  Looks 34 to me.

The seller replied to my email...unfortunately (and strange) that the case is not included.  They don't have it.

They've added that it's a 34.  With no case, bidders should communicate with the seller and feel really comfortable about the shipping.  And I agree, it does seem just a little strange.

Bob, I couldn't remember how much Exploiter/Spoilers had been trading for; so you're probably right that my guess will be low.  It's already at $1,850 with a little less than six days to go.

Bid is currently $3,550 and still a day to go.  Very curious to see what the winning bid will be.  Any guess how high it will go?

How high it will or how high it should?  If it were a straight Signature Deluxe, I'd say anywhere between where it is and $4K.  As an Exploiter, you never know.

Interesting that the 'K' serial no makes it an essence. Wonder how many of the original essence features have been retained.

Well, Graeme, it seems like it still has a mahogany body core...

Seriously, though, in that timeframe, the price list was a bit screwed up and you could add features to an Essence until it turned into a Signature or even Series I bass in everything but name and save a few hundred dollars.  Bass Central ordered an awful lot of Essence basses that looked like SC Signature models, though usually with Europa electronics.

Technically, this one probably would have been better off with a C serial number for Custom.

YES! YES! YES! I got it! $3550! The bass has a walnut core and upgraded Signature electronics with two Q switches. When I spoke to Alembic, they were at a loss as to why it had the 'K' in the serial number, as very little of the Essence is evidence; as bsee suggests a 'C' would be a better description. I've wanted an 'Exploiter' since seeing John play one on Baba O'Riley/WGFA in 'The Kids Are Alright' and now I've got it! It's coming to the U.K (in a hard case I hasten to add) and I'll post some pics when it arrives. YES!(Sorry, I'm a bit excited!)
