Thinking of buying my first Alembic

Am finally close to getting the Elan, first there was blizzards in Missouri and nothing was moving, then UPS sent it to Kentucky, then Anchorage ,Alaska, then Hong Kong in China (yes really!). It is now in Singapore and should be in Perth tommorrow.

I used to wonder why freight is so expensive and now I know...

Great purchase of a gorgeous Elan there. I'm confident you will be blown away. There is something of a great character to the sound of an all maple Elan. Very bright chunky and powerful when you need it but controllable when you are being subtle.

Skyboltone, when i got my Europa it was strung that way and the bass had an amazing sound that seemed to have more resonance, sustain and richness of tone than it does now that I have re-strung it back to standard. However most of my bass playing doesn't include the higher end so a low B is more useful.  I guess a 6 stringer would give the best of both worlds and a whole new learning curve.

We need sometime to get used to this different concept about eletronics and how to get the most from the filter, but once you get it, it is tottaly addictive. All my other basses got shadowed since I started to use my Rogue (I imagine how would be if I had a Series...).

Alembic make the ultimate basses, great purchase!
Not just a bass, this is an Alembic!
