Hey Wolf, I would not bid on it for other reasons, too much stress. I do appreciate the consideration of your act. I did give all my blessing to bid on it, as his parents should get what the market will bear from its sale, and I did not think it right to stop anyone from going after something they have constitutionally gauranteed rights on. Fair is fair. OK, if you showed interest in a particular bass, I would not bid against you, either. Even if you said it was OK. We are who we are, by the consideration we show others. So thank you.
This was a rare auction where someone must have actually paid attention to me yakking about what a great bass my old one was, and then went totally nutz bidding over market value, and then some. What was the top bid placed on it? That will stay Dan's and my secret. It must have had some intrinsic value to someone out there in the world. Then again, that would only be me, eh?
This auction was stressing me out, so I gave it up, and Dan took it and placed my high bid for me. Hey Shawn, this is not a plain bass, considering it has expensive Macassar ebony lams, special core wood, gold hardware, and LEDs, which did not come standard on these basses back then. Plus it had a new innovation Susan talked me into, graphite rods embedded in the neck. They quit doing graphite necks, so this was the next best thing. I am very biased on this bass. If I paid too much (Reality - Auction should have ended close to maybe $4,000 and should not have gone over $4,500, for sure)then let me live my illusion that I got off cheap, as I certainly would have paid more. Every once in a while, you see a bass break all expectations and go for a significantly higher price than what they have been going for. I do not care about why, I got my first love back, and am a happy camper apout it. I really wanted that little Series II graphite bass you sold. Both your basses went to excellent homes, and that is what counts the most with these basses. I know the owners appreciate the deals you gave them.
Thanks to Otis, Mica, and especially Dan for their help in this matter. Yummies will be coming your way, if you e-mail me your shipping addresses. Otis, I would have seen the auction, as I check out the club and eBay on a regularf routine, but it was a five day auction, so by pointiung me there faster, you helped a lot. Mica saw my posting and gave me a call. If she had not, I would have watched the auction and would have planned on bidding, but I would have walked away when the bids that were placed hit. It is not good for me to stress out right now. So Dan did me a huge favor. Thanks ever so much Dan.
OK, time to bow and exit, and wait for next week's arrival. Glad the bass did not make it back east. It's good to have a lost one back in the flock.
Still no spell checker!
