I'm no expert but even with the logo and pickups I'm doubtful that's an Alembic. I mean I can write Alembic on my arm but that doesn't mean I'm Mica's love child, you know?

I think that's one of the Japan Export models,
there's some literature pics and a few examples on the board here somewhere.
 They don't usually surface here in the states.

There are certain things here that make me doubt:
 
1) The neck is Bolt-on... Excuse me if I'm wrong, but Has Alembic made bolt-ons so far? And only three screws?
 
2) The tuner spacing at the peghead looks VERY suspicious to me, as well as the peghead's cut
 
3) What's with that bridge tailpiece?  
 
4) No sandwich whatsoever on the neck? No laminate? One piece, quite plain wood chunk?
 
5) Truss rod cover/access on the peghead?
 
6) Those pickups can (surely) be Activators, and the gig bag looks legit, but then... I could put those on anything...
 
 Dunno... I'd say nay....

This was made by Rokkomann, Inc. in Japan for distribution only in Japan. We supplied the pickups, electronics and logos. This was made at a time when the yen to dollar exchange rate was like 245:1. I believe there were only 50 or 100 made.

Never seen a shop night one, and we've never made one, so I'm not sure what you saw - maybe a one-off tribute to the Series I? I've seen lots of basses sprouting little points, so it's completely possible. Also, we always use our own pickups/electronics.
 
The ones that Rokkomann licensed were bolt-on necks and they were made in their shop in Japan for sale in Japan only, though they are scattered around the world now. These had pickups and electronics that we build, but they did the wood working. This project was done at a time when the yen was sky high.

Wow.... well, then I'll have to assume there is always room for surprise. Still, I could argue that sporting Alembic electronic and logos, although legit, doesn't make it An Alembic.
 
Or I could simply say I don't like it. Not even close to the Alembics I've known.  
 
And I'd rather stay that way.

Having looked at the link which shows an alembic gig bag, and as I'm currently looking for a leather gig bag that will fit my Europa's i think an alembic leather gig bag would be a nice addition to the on-line store. :-)

Right , I understand that Jazzy,
 I know my views aren't universally shared,
I could see a hemp/nylon Alembic bag that doesn't promote speciesism . Phasing out the Leather would progress in my eye.  
 Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
