Just watched both the videos; great as always!  I especially like the six string stuff; really nice tone, and some great runs!!

Hi David,

Lol!  Now that I look at that pic again, that's funny!!!  :D

Glad you liked the videos!  That sixer is really something!  Another couple of months and there's gonna be some serious beautiful music coming off the Kitsap peninsula.

See you around.

Best Regards,

Hi Guys,

An amazingly short (for me anyways ;) ) video from a few days ago when I was playing around in a local coffee shop.

'White Christmas'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGb94cuB4J4

As with the Youtube description, when I started seeing holiday commercials on the television and decorations in the stores, I figured it was time to bring my one and only holiday tune out and start dusting it off. ;)

The new six string has really added a new dimension with the addition of the higher octave section.  What a Sweetie she is!

Best Regards,

Kimberly

Very nice Kimberly!  Your chordal technique continues to get better; which is an area the six string really opens up.  And I see you're taking a new padded chair to your gigs!  Makes those long sets a little more comfy; but I'm guessing it's a bit tough getting it in and out of the car.

Hi David,

Thank you!  The six string continues to amaze me!  Such tone and 'opportunities' to make sweet sounds.  With hindsight I can see a difference in my style from even a month ago when I posted this video.  Much more comfortable with my 'becoming one with my bass'.  ;)

Funny about the chair!    For nearly a full year now, I've been using my padded piano bench to hold my mixer and been sitting on a wooden stool.  It was only a couple of weeks ago I finally got an amp stand for the mixer and 'got my bench back'!  :D

Best Regards,

I recently offered to help a lady load in her gear for a gig at a friend's pub.  Big Mistake.  I got the third degree about being a chauvenistic pig.  And if she actually needed some help, she would have hired a crew of girls because there is no man worthy of carrying her gear.

Of course, this was Santa Cruz.

Hi Everyone.

I just wanted to update the haps, so I copy/pasted my latest newsletter.

  Begins.

Another 'flash gig' this Friday, August 3rd at Coastal Coffee Inc. cafe/shop in Kingston, WA.

Start time is 7:00 til I get tired of playing.

This is a new venue which is 'experimenting' with having live music.  If you're not gigging, or have other plans, it would be great to see some familiar faces.  Not to apply any pressure mind you but, the more people who show, the more success this 'experiment' will have which could ultimately result in another venue for local performers.  Well worth the time for the 'big picture', not to mention getting the opportunity to hear my latest material.  ;)

Located at the intersection of Miller Bay/Hansville Road and Highway 104 in the 'Albertsons' shopping center complex.

Coastal Coffee/Cafe
8208 NE State Highway 104 STE 104
Kingston, WA
360-297-3326

For something else, I'll be playing at a benefit for an injured employee from Tizley's EuroPub this coming Thursday the 2nd.  Start time is 6pm and will easily go as late as 10:00ish.  A most worthy cause as she has no insurance, not to mention she's unable to work.

Tizley's EuroPub
18928 Front St.
Poulsbo, WA
360-394-0080

On a related note the open mike at Tizley's is still running strong, every Wednesday, 8-11.  ;)

Hope to see you there.

Best Regards,

Kimberly Lynn

You're a funny guy Dave. ;) If opportunity ever presents and we find ourselves in the same part of the world, it would be a pleasure to meet in person.

Til then,

Best Regards,

Kimberly

Hey Everyone.

Another 'flash gig'.

Casa De Luna Of Poulsbo
18830 Front Street Northeast
Poulsbo, WA 98370

6-8 Friday.  Another gig that's never had live music and, if all goes well with my performance (which it likely will ;) ), I'll be back on Saturday, same time, same place.

Undoubtedly the easiest gig I've ever booked, as my 'reputation' preceded me via word of mouth from friends and employees.   An introduction, a statement of desire to play my music, economics, setting the date and time, bidding each other a great day, nice to meet you, see you soon, out the door.  I kid you not, two-three minutes total elapsed time.  Ahhh...were they all to be so easy.

If anyone's in the neighborhoood, pop on in.  It would be nice to meet another Alembic owner and the opportunity to see/hear a 'budding' bass soloist?  Priceless.  ;)

Best Regards,

Kimberly

PS.  The benefit from a couple of weeks ago raised a bit over two grand.  Not too bad for six musicians and four hours and even better, the timing was just right to help them through some hard times.
