...my name is Ken, and I'm a bass player...oh, wait! Wrong group...
I have been scheming to get myself an Alembic for the last...well...century or so, and I finally got myself to a point where I could actually get one these wonderful basses. So, last Friday my wife and I drove up to Santa Rosa (about 1.5 hours drive from our house) and went to the factory. One word...INCREDIBLE!!! I wasn't sure what model I wanted, so I played Mica's Essence.
It sounded a little dark for my playing, so Mary grabbed a Rogue that was bound for England later that day. It was perfect...Buckeye Burl and Purpleheart edging, crisp, precise action, just a dream. So my wife says That one sounds so much better! And that wood is gorgeous! How could I argue? I now have a Buckeye Burl Rogue 4-string on order, due in 8 to 10 weeks!
