Hi,
I am not a 'true' Alembic owner. I have a '74 Pbass with old Series I electronics in it. It is kind of an interesting bass I think. I bought it in Petaluma, CA used in 1980. It had a brass bridge (Alembic style) and nut installed as well as the Series I, The pickups are in resin, not the modern ones. It has the name John Randall on the case. Now, I wonder if Mr. Dolan did the mods because he was opening up shop in Cotati around that time.

Anyway...I'm here to find out how to improve the sound I get out of it. I've always been frustrated with its lack of punch, but maybe that is its nature.

Hi Jeffrey; I'm sure folks around here would love to see a picture of your Pbass with Series I electronics! Since you've had this bass a while, I guess you've played it through a variety of rigs. What are you playing through now? Try turning the volume trim pots all the way up and see if that makes a difference. The trim pots don't really affect the tone from the bass, but may make a difference in driving your amp. Also, try adjusting the height of your pickups; getting them closer to the strings should add more punch. By the way, do you have a power supply or are you running off two nine volt batteries?
