I've been lurking around here after buying this bass as second owner. Great forum here!

Welcome and I hope you enjoy the forum at least as much as I have over the years.
Is this bass your first Alembic? If so, I'd love to hear your first impressions?
Any questions just fire away in the various forums and we will clear things up for you.

Thanks, yes it is my first Alembic. First impressions were while at the office where I could only admire the woods and flawless workmanship, the previous owner had really taken care of it too. When I made it home and plugged into my rig I found the tone somewhat bright for my taste but it just took a little tweaking of the knobs to get a variety of great tones. This is also my first active electronics bass.

Congratulations, and welcome. I, too, bought my first Alembic several years ago, but to this day I'm absolutely thrilled and amazed every time I play. There's just nothing like 'em....

Welcome to the camp Shannon!
Some members use flat wound strings to counter act the brightness of the active electronics.
Keep tweaking knobs and switches and you will find your favorite sound. (And a wealth of other great sounds).
