It is vermilion wood. I am told that as the wood ages it will get darker. This bass is 1995 that I bought used but it is in unplayed condition. The headstock laminates have turned brown already but the body still has a lot of bright orange and red to it. Only the bottom edge of the body has turned brown. At fist I thought it was two different woods but Mica told me that the color difference between the body and headstock is most likely due to the fact that back then they used preformed laminates from different stock than the tops. Has anyone else had expereince with vermilion similar to this? I also have a 1998 Essence 5 string in quilted maple. I am working on getting pictures of that one. These pictures I got from the seller of this bass. It is kinda funny. I started on 4 string. Graduated to 5 and then to 6 string. Then I went back to 5 string and now I find myself coming full circle back to 4 string quite a bit. Bracheen, do you have any of your basses on the site? I would love to check 'em out. Thanks!
