My new old Essence 4 (92K6968)
« on: October 05, 2006, 01:57:40 PM »
unbelievable !  just a few months after I had to sell my Essence fretless fiver (bu-hu-hu, sniff...), I managed to fetch this little darling through eBay...

and again, Paul TBO's mantra has been proven right ! Thanks Paul !  I got a call from my wife at noon time that she (the Essence) arrived safely, and could not wait to come home to give her (again, the bass...) a good cleaning and new setup. The humble shots really do not justice the fine figuring of the maple, I have to take pictures on the weekend with daylight (and delight, LOL !).  Christian (sorry for any confusions caused ;-))  (Message edited by Speicky on October 05, 2006)

Sweet!

I like the old style better than the new style Essences. Looks more elegant in my eyes. Congrats!

I owned that Essence from 1994, to 1995.  I bought it at Uncle Sam's Pawn Shop in Columbus, Ohio for $1000, when I was 19.  It came with a retangular black padded case, and the Bass was in absolute mint condition at time of purchase.  I accidentally scratched the back of the bass on the lower horn with my zipper. The Essence ended up being equally traded to Lang Music(also in Columbus at the time), for a new Black '95 Fender American Standard Precision Bass. Not a good move on my part. With my blue padded Kustom 200 amp, I wanted to be Jamerson.

Anyway, I recognize the Maple.  Even have a photo, somewhere.  I never registered it with Alembic.

There was a 5-String Essence next to it at Uncle Sam's Pawn Shop with the same kind of flame maple, also in mint condition.  I was told both basses came in at the same time.

How the heck did it get in Germany? lol.
