Because of my playing style, I don't find any of the small bodied basses to be neck heavy.  But I know it is a problem for a lot of players.  I think that what helps with this bass is the location of the strap button.  It supports the neck better in that position.  On some of the short scale basses, it is further into the body throwing it off balance.

On Birdy, my short scale Series I, the strap button is moved to exactly the same location. Works well for me, no complaints about diving necks here at all! My compliments about your bass BTW, beautiful piece of history, I love the Koa...

Thanks guys,
I am really enjoying her. Stoney we Northeasterners  should have a gathering of the minds sometime. I notice that Mikey is also in the area. I also have a few others around my area. But thanks again Stoney, our transaction was what started it all. BTW how is the refinishing  going on Stanley?

If there is ever any Northeastern gathering, I'm sure myself and Kungfusheriff would be able to help represent the upstate NY crowd... I believe we also have a few comrades in the Boston area who wouldn't want to be left out...

Yep...if the gathering falls on one of my rare free moments, myself and the Little Big Bass will be dropping in. Especially if there's beer.

Hey Ed,
I didn't see the post to me. Stan is done being refinished, now I'm upgrading the electronics. Here's a pic. The gig in NY with Who's Next went really well.

Stoney,
What exactly are you getting done for and upgrade, besides making it look like a beutiful Series style bass?  I sure made the right choice when I  let me baby go to you!! You certainly do know how to upgrade/care for an instrument. I hope to catch one of your shows somtime!!
Best Wishes,
-Ed

Hey Ed.
Sorry about the pic being so small....let's try that again. Looking at the pic is much better than me trying to explain this.

Nice Series I on ebay with a master volume control on it. Have you seen it?
