Mica: AXY & 18 Volts????

I have an AXY and filter circuit which I recently purchased (to help me decide whether to go with humbucker or series).
 
I am ready to fit it into the empty bridge position of my old Rickenbacker testbed, but currently the rick is running an 18 Volt EMG in the neck position.  
 
Is it OK to run the Alembic filter circuit on 18 Volts instead of 9V? Has anybody tried this?  
 
I could just tap off 9 volts from one of the existing batteries, but that means undoing a bunch of heatshrinks and stuff....

I'm not sure if those circuits can run from 18 volts, but you can make a connector to short the second (unused) battery clip. You make the connector from a third 9V battery clip. I think this neat little trick was described in an issue of Bass Player magazine.
 
All you need to do is solder the red and black wires together on the third clip. Then, remove one of the batteries and plug your new shorting clip in its place. You can then run the electronics from one battery.

You can wire for 18V if you have the  right capacitor values on the filter board. There should be a 4-digit date code stamped on the pot which represents the year and week the unit was made (like 0302 for today). If you date code is after 9501 you shouldn't have a problem. If it's before, contact us again to give you advice on the caps you need to change.
