I heard Galama stopped. 't Was his back, wasn't it? I know of one of his tele still being for sale, not too expensive due to a broken headstock. Must have been quite a drive (3 hours?) for you to get to Frysl?n... I agree with Bill over the mahogany (the guitar being an SG), though maple would be structually stronger, of course. I have a friend who, I think, has built a neck through SG. Maybe you'd want to contact him for advise.
