Slimming Down a Europa's Neck Width

I'm contemplating getting a 4-string Europa with some modifications. Two modifications that I would like would be a 35 scale and a more narrow neck, 1.5, at the nut. The bass I have now has a 1.5 neck and I really like it and I would not like to adjust to a wider neck. My arms are very long and so I think I could handle the increased length. I would contemplate using TI Jazz flats on the bass and am thinking that the increased length would up the tension on these strings and make it a very nice sounding instrument.

Slimming the neck isn't too difficult, however changing the scale length is a different foxhunt altogether. Not impossible of course, but a lengthy and I would guess not un-expensive job, considering the fingerboard will have to be replaced, as well as the bridge and probably the tailpiece moved too. Might be worth doing if you found a bass in need of restoration, and didn't mind putting the $$$ into it. If you look long enough, you may even find a Europa that already has the extra-long scale, although it would likely be a multi-string. (5 or 6)  
 
Regarding the TI's... I love 'em, but you're right - they're very soft tension. I like them that way... FWIW, I have them on a medium scale (32) Persuader 5-string, and find the tension to be much more to my liking than on a couple 35 scale instruments. YMMV of course.

The only issue I would be concerned with for a Europa with a 35 scale length would be neck dive. The Rogue can be ordered with a 34 or 35 scale neck and has a body shape designed to accommodate the longer length. The best thing to do is call Alembic if you are thinking about one and see what they recommend.

If you're talking about a custom order, then changing the neck width is super easy, and doesn't even cost extra. The 35 scale length is a small extra charge.  
 
I would suggest trying a set of the low-tension Jazz Flats on any 35 scale bass to see if the mechanical feedback from the string is what you are looking for. If you want these strings (or any specific strings) on your build, we request you supply a set of them when you order.
 
As a 4-string, I don't anticipate neck dive being an issue. What fret does the upper horn of your current bass extend to?
 
BUT, if you are talking about modding an existing bass, as Gregory mentioned, that's a lot more work.
