I want to check the serial number is authentic and ok.  SN: 000W122833 USA (on back of headstock)  Any more info would be great.  I purchased for ?1500 from a dealer in UK.

What are the best strings to put on this.  I'm not sure what's already on it because I bought it used.
 
Great feel and tone.  This seems to get a great sound on each string, on every fret.

You have a great bass there. I almost bought that bass a few times but a few wise words from members here reminding me of my existing arsenal of alembics made me leave it be. That said I' was sorely tempted still. But now I'm glad you have removed it from my grasp.  
 
From what I can see, You have a year 2000 orion with the signature electronics package which is a non standard configuration for that bass. Usually it has volume pan, bass & treble. So with that set up you have the same as the Stanley Clarke Signature and Mark King Signature basses giving you  much more tonal choices than the standard Orion bass.  
 
That is a great price for an alembic bass of that spec in the UK.
