I haven't been able to say these words very often in my life, but this year I can.

I did receive a small tax refund, but, more important, I didn't have to pay. So the cash I've been holding in reserve can be re-prioritized for another purpose. And as luck would have it, the golden Skylark demo guitar in the For Sale section was still available. There's karma at work again.

Sooo - as of this afternoon, arrangements have been made to send her to sunny AZ where she will become the latest resident of Taylor's Resort for Reclaimed Alembics.

In honor of this momentous occasion, she has been re-christened Sunshine Daydream and I look forward to introducing her to the rest of her siblings and acquainting myself with the new experience of playing a small-string Alembic instrument.

Congrats on your story!

But what does this mean for me? As usual, I prepare my own taxes (both individual and for my engineering consulting business) at the last possible moment. I had a very good year last year, and made a point of making some sizeable estimated tax payments over the year. Except it turns out that those payments weren't nearly sizeable enough and I owe yet another chunk now.

Fortunately, I don't have to thin the herd to make the payment, but bah humbug!

One thing you can be sure in life and that is death and taxes!
But I guess the latter is far more preferable!

Congratulations & Compliments David... one thing jumped out at me when Mica first posted that one - there's a distinct heart shape in the top figuring, sort of encircling the tailpiece.

btw, I'm a huge fan of your Crown of Creation bass... this gold guitar should really contrast with that awesomely red vermilion.

Thanks guys and thanks Greg re: COC. She's one of my most treasured possessions.

Re: taxes - yup, most years previous to this one my story has been similar to David's - hence I routinely hold a fairly decent chunk o'cash in reserve through the spring.

The upside of doing this is not needing to sell off something (usually gear) to pay taxes (adds insult to injury) and, if the cash isn't needed - well, hey now, that's just like found money!

Rusty - you weren't the only one working to find her a new home. I dangled her in front of a few of my 6-string associates and one almost bit - in fact, a luthier in the Fender Custom Shop even advised him that it was a good deal and he should do it! - but he ultimately declined.

While all of that was going on, her subtle charms started working on me and I thought - hey, why not, as long as my tax situation is favorable this year.
