Hello
I am a proud owner of a '75 series I that has had some what of a hard life. When I got the bass a few years ago it had a broken headstock, twisted neck and none working electronics. Since than almost all the issues have been delt with either by myself or local profesionals some claiming to be alembic specialists. But none have been succesful in solving the electronics issues so eventhough the bass is now structuraly sound I am still unable to use it.
I have sent the electronics card in for service hoping this would solve the issues but no such luck.
I am currently a full time Music student meaning I don't have allot of funds so I am trying to find the most economical way to get these electronics serviced at the mother ship, by the only true Alembic experts.
Could I remove all the electronics (pots, switches, pickups, ect.) and send them in instead of the whole bass?
I am sure this would at least save me some money on the shipping.
Does any one have any other suggestions?
Or any idea what this is gonna run me?
I just sent the same message through the support section but i thought maybe posting it here will help with the brain storming and maybe save me some cash

Can you post some pics of the electronics cavity... we have a few members who know the electronics really well (I'm not one of them!!!) and they might notice something missing or unplugged (wouldn't that be nice?). Otherwise, I'm not sure if you can just gut a Series instrument and send-in the electronics (my understanding is that Ron has to tune the electronics and I THINK he has to have the whole bass for that purpose). You may not even be able to get the dummy coil out intact... although on a '75 the coil may not be mounted. Also, keep in mind that your instrument will need the electronics upgrade. When it's all said and done, I'm afraid you're going to have a fair amount invested in your bass, BUT you will have a functional Series I Alembic.

Not all instruments need the electronics upgrade. It's really a case by case basis. Both of my Series I guitars, a '76 MSG and a '77 LSG 12 string, are fine without the upgrade. And I live in a crowded urban area, San Francisco Bay Area.

Could you list out the electronics issues please?
Mike is right about the pictures.
Could be something simple like the ribbon cable plugged in upside down.
