Alembics at Recording Sessions

Last week I did my first recording session with my Alembic Europa/Elan 5 bass.  
 
It's for an up and coming production company called Chromosome Live Lab. It gives Rap/Hip Hop artistes the opportunity to record some of their music with a live band.  
 
This was my first session with them which we did in the first take.

The bit that made me crease up laughing was when the engineer asked the vocalist to spit the first verse so that we can get some levels. The terminology we musicians use is rich to say the least.
 
I did another last night using my Bocate Europa so that should be up next week sometime.

Yeah but Im not into rap at all. I haven't heard any rap that i like other than the one on Stanley's album 1,2 to the bass.  
I did it because a was asked to do the session.

I have always found that any genre of music has the potential to grab my sensibilities and give me a thrill. But it only works if I can connect to the melody, the rhythm, or the prose. The vast majority of rap music fails for me on all three of these criteria.  
 
Still, there are some exceptions I have encountered. Jazzyvee, I heartily encourage you, (if you haven't already) to listen to Jurassic 5, the cuts Concrete Schoolyard and What's Golden. I like this band and I'm sorry they aren't together anymore. These two cuts are outstanding works, IMHO. Anybody who can rhyme with Robin Loxley is pretty cool in my book.
