No, it's not an Alembic...
« on: October 22, 2022, 04:25:40 AM »
Hi, I'm Dimo! I'm new to the forum but some Alembics have passed me over the years:
- Persuader '84
- Series I '80
- Epic '96
I currently have a 5-string Spoiler '89 that I recently acquired.... but the reason for writing here is a little different...
When I was still living in Brazil and was starting to take my first guitar lessons (I was about 15, around '96 or '97), in a conversation with a friend he told me that his father was a bass player in a band and he had a very special bass that no one could "lay hands on". Of course I persisted until he agreed to take me to his place so I could see what it was about... well, it was the first time I saw an Alembic in my life. I only had the opportunity to see this bass once, but it was enough to motivate me to focus my studies on the low end and put in my head "I NEED to have an Alembic".
The years passed and around 2002 I was already performing professionally in clubs in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, and on the first opportunity I had I went looking for an Alembic to buy... unfortunately my financial situation at the time simply didn't allow this aquisition... :(
Well... after a lot of research I ended up resorting to something less orthodox: I found a luthier who agreed to help me and as a result I have this friend who has been with me for about 20 years. No, it's not an Alembic... but man, how happy this instrument makes me!... aaaa..his name is "Dimoniac I".
:D
