If the tuners are marked with an Alembic A on the back or say Made in Japan then you should replace with the Gotoh GB7 tuners.
The Schallers have a smaller mounting diameter than the Gotohs we usually use. You would need to either fill and redrill the mounting holes or fashion a sleeve to take up the space.
You'll notice that most of the instruments we made in the 1970s had chrome tuners. This is becuase that finish is the most durable. But many people were disappointed that the tuner finish didn't match the colo rof the brass hardware, so I think in about 1989 or so we went to mostly gold finished tuners. I should get replacement parts up in the store, I'm sure you're not the only one with worn finish.
