There are countless threads here on bass rigs. But, what the heck, one more thread can't hurt too much. I just wanted to share with the group my latest purchase to go along with my signature deluxe 5-string (the Coco Bolo Fantasy - Nov, 2000 Feature Custom). I've had the bass about 6 weeks now and been playing through an old Fender Bassman 160/15 and a fairly new SWR WorkingPro 200/12. Neither would give me a good, round low end fundamental; especially on the B string. I knew I had to do something different after spending a significant sum on the bass.
I ended up with an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro (tubes in the pre-amp section) and an Acme Low B-2ii; which is a 3-way 2x10 with a 5 mid and another tweeter. The cabinet is rated at 350W RMS. I am truly AMAZED at what comes out of that small cabinet. In my humble opinion, Acme has just simply nailed it with the design of this box. It's only 6db down at 31 hz.
So, if someone is looking for that old classic rock/R&B, punchy-round, fat low end; I think this is a great rig. I had to put a plug in for Andy at Acme Sound,
www.acmebass.com . He's an extremely smart fellow with a great product at a very reasonable price.
