Can anyone tell me what the slotted white adjustment (encased in a square blue box) on the inside attached to each on/off/Q switch of my Skylark is for? It's not the inside gain adjustments....Those are also there. There are four adjustment slotted white round in square blue boxes inside the back electronics cavity. Two at the gain pots and two more at the on/off/Q switches. I talked to Valentino, and he wasn't sure soooooooo......anybody?

The switches on your guitar are pickup selectors. When you're in playing position from top to bottom it's:

off
on
bright

The trimpot on the switch is the amount of brightness. Turn it clockwise to get a bigger difference between the middle and down positions.

On the filter controls, the trimpots are for the gain of each pickup. You can adjust the height of the pickup and only worry about it's affect on the tone. Then later you can adjust the trimpots and change the gain without affecting the tone at all.

I thought that might be the case. Am I right in thinking that the trimpot on the switch effects the amount of db boosting where ever the filter is adjusted? If so, what's the range of boost?
I'm sure this is probably only the 10,000th time you've answered this question....Thanks in advance for answer #10,001.

Mica,

Sounds like that trimpot allows you to adjust the Q - correct? So if you replace the trimpot with a regular pot, and mount it to the top, and take out the Q switch, that would make it a CVQ system - right?

If it works on a Skylark, then can it work on a Spoiler with the SB-II circuit?

I'll have to check with my dad on the range of the brightness control, it's not a spec I ever bothered recording.

The Skylark doesn't have Q-switches (the Q is present on the filter controls). The switches on the Skylark are pickup selector switches and have no affect on the resonant peak of the filter.

A long time ago I sold a very custom Spoiler bass to a gentleman in England. It was solid black with a tree of life inlay, Spoiler electronics with a CVQ. After my dad finished building it, he told me to never sell that again. He said CVQ only on the Series. Sorry, we don't say no to too many things.

Thanks for clearing that up. On the Skylark controls, if it's not a 3 position switch with (1) off, (2) on, (3) Q boost, then what kind of brightness are we talking about?

Thanks for the info....sorry if I opened up a can of worms......There's absolutely no hurry on the range. You've given me the info that I needed. I just wanted to be sure what I was adjusting before actually adjusting it. Having this much control over my guitar has unlocked a new world to

I don't know the range myself. I'll have to get a moment with dad sometime and get the details from him. I will let you know as soon as I learn it.
