RIP
« on: October 27, 2025, 08:11:42 PM »
Just found out on another forum that Jack Dejohnette passed away from congestive heart failure yesterday; he was 83.
His Wikipedia discography page lists 50 albums as leader & 175 as sideman.  Wow.  And these weren't no slouches he was siding for, either.

Another giant lost. Jack was a powerful and unique voice in the jazz world. I never got to meet him but I have friends who were lucky enough to make music with him, and they reported he was a wonderful guy. Rest in peace.

Saw the headline yesterday; thanks for posting it here.  I'll have to listen to Tribute tonight, his album with Keith Jarrett and Gary Peacock.
