Shakedown Street in Telluride and Crested Butte
« on: April 02, 2016, 04:36:26 PM »
Here's a shot of today's gig on the main street in Telluride. It was a blast, although when we started, the sun felt like a tanning lamp and by the time we finished it was probably in the high 20s. Brrr.

Tomorrow, Crested Butte!

I love the mountain towns.

Hey Edwin...

Sounds like a blast. I love Telluride and am a fan of the whole state of CO. Have a great tour!

My wife and I just got back from Taos, NM. Definitely plan to return. Beautiful area. We both love anything to do with the mountains.

We were driving back to Taos from the Olo Caliente hot springs and Jen put the DP of the Englishtown show in the CD player. Mississippi Half-Step started up as we were getting near to the Taos Gorge Bridge, which crosses over the Rio Grande. The Dead finished singing the across the Rio Grand-eo section about 30 seconds before we drove over. Pretty cool, and the gorge itself is absolutely amazing!

Wow,Edwin, nice crowd and a fine spring day in the San Juans!  I lived in Colorado in the 80s and 90s, man I miss it, and I love Telluride!  Have fun!

Crested Butte was great as well. Sold out show.

Fun part of Telluride:

Being in the middle of the main street, there was a hard 8PM curfew. We stopped at 7:58 and this woman jumped up on stage and told us she was the mayor and that she authorized us to play 2 more songs. Our guitar player was about to go for it when I went over to ask about her credentials. I then noticed she was visibly intoxicated. When I called her on it, she just laughed.

I love the small towns where someone like that might just actually really be the mayor!

I visited friends in Aspen after the 87 Telluride Dead shows. Was hanging out on a bench outside a bar drinking a beer with someone who was also drinking a beer and turned out to be the Mayor of Aspen. I have been in Aspen a number of times since 1970 and boy has that town changed over the years... not necessarily for the better.

Would love to play in Colorado again, last time was with David Gans and the Reptiles at the Boulder Theater in 1996. Still considering an August vacation in Colorado and will check out Shakedown Street if you are playing while we are there.
