1980 Alembic Series I Bass Guitar Natural #8-1651 (Thunder Road Guitars, Portland, OR, USA)

I keep my eye on the Thunder Road Guitars website ever since I bought my bass through them. This appeared this morning. It looks to have been well cared for. No DS-5, though.

No affiliation with this sale.

Serial number would be "80-1651" as in 1980.  (You can even see the "0" in the first photo.)  Cue switch for the bass channel has been replaced and the frequency knob for that channel looks correct except for the lack of a pointy arrow.  Otherwise seems to be in great condition.

Yeah, you'd think that a shop dealing in high-end instruments would pay a little more attention to detail on their website  ;)

A reasonably priced Series I.  I'd rather deal with a shop that misses a "0" than one who charges double what a Series I of this age is worth.

I’m thinking about it. I’m 140 miles away from it. But I just bought a Series 1 last year. But….April is coming and the IRS and my county (property tax) are due and that’s about the same amount as the bass.  >:(
Where are we going...and why am I in this Handbasket?

Has anyone seen a 6-string Series 1 Bass recently?  And Mica…. Don’t say “yes, it’s here on my drawing board!”   8)   ;D

I have dealt with them before and had a good experience.
