Classico 1993 for sale or trade
« on: December 17, 2024, 03:38:55 AM »
I have an Alembic Classico, from 1993, that I am now considering letting someone else to play. The bass is located in Norway and works well (my subjective opinion), considering it´s age. It has lots/many marks and scratches from years of use. Note: There are some original parts missing and is described below.

When I Aquired the instrument, both the pickup bracket and the pickup were missing. The original pickup has been replaced with four low-impedance pickups from CYCFI (non-original). The bracket is made of 100 year old maple (non-original).
It´s important that anyone considering taking over this instrument is aware of this. Personally, I think the bass sounds great (my subjective opinion), and the instrument itself is enjoyable to play.

There is also an aftermarket pickup installed in the oringinal bridge, which can be easy to remove. Otherwise, the controls and electronics seems to be original from 93. I am quite certain that the original Thomastik strings, which came on the bass in 1993, are still on it.

Additionally, the stand for the bass is custom made (non-original) and uses the original brass locking mechanism. The rear body support is also handmade (non -original), crafted form mahogany and maple.

As you probably know, this is a large instrument, so well need to agree on how transport will be arranged. I am not playing it as much as I should. To be honest, I`m never going to be a double bassist, which is why I`m putting this up for sale. I could also be interested in a trade for an old Fender P-bass.

You have noticed the parts that are missing and have been replaced with non-original parts, so please don't comment on that.
I have, with my knowledge to the instrument, tried to be as informative as possible.
If you have even a hint of interest in this instrument, PM me.

I wish there were a way I could repatriate this one, and put it to work here. I've dreamed of playing a Classico a few times, but was terrified I'd like it.

Any way you could post us a couple pictures?

Happy New Year

You are absolutely correct - It´s that Classico. Super instrument to play.
I would let it go for Euro 4000, but it has been low interest for it so far.
Best regards

They are pretty rare too. I hope you find a buyer.
