F1X preamp repair help
« on: August 04, 2024, 02:34:35 AM »
Can anyone help me with identifying the resistor value of the burned up resistor circled in yellow? It is located on the power supply section of the F1X preamp. Someone messed around inside and has since been put back to normal all but replacing this resistor and I cannot find a definitive schematic or image to verify resistor correct value. Thank you kindly in advance

Sadly that schematic doesn't show the power supply.  But I did find these couple pics online and it looks like that resistor should be 2.7K-ohm (red-violet-red).  One pic shows a 5% (gold) tolerance and one shows 10% (silver).  And I'm gonna guess it's a 1/2 watt but it might be 1/4.  You can go 1/2 watt to be safe, if it will fit in the spot...

Hopefully you've fixed what caused it to burn up in the first place!

If I remember right there is a resistor used in either or both the F-2b and F-1x as a fuse to protect the other components. In that case, you should use only the correct rating for it (1/2 or 1/4 but not either)

Then again, my memory is not all it used to.
